Post-election Care And Coping
As the pandemics persists, and we get closer to a major decision here in America, primarily the leadership of our country, I’m noticing that people are burning out and exhausting themselves and their emotional resources. Here are a few things you can do to choose to cope and reset if you’re experiencing pandemic fatigue with racial, political, or relationship tension. I used the Mnemonic COPE to help you remember what you can do.
C: Control what you can; acknowledge what you can’t and don’t try to do everything all on your own. Its ok to ask for help.
O: Offer gratitude, grace, and hope. This allows us to take our minds off the things that may be oppressing or stressing us.
P: Pause regularly and plan ahead when possible. Time is like money. If you don’t tell it where to go, you’ll wonder where it went. Pause and consider what you want to get out of your day, and plan accordingly.
E: Exhale slowly and intentionally throughout the day to help release stress, worries, or negative emotions and thoughts that may have attached themselves to you.
Be intentional with your coping and post-election care. Remember to C.O.P.E. and hit the reset button as the pandemics persists
